Vipassana & Mindfulness Meditation Retreat

The Vipassana & Mindfulness Meditation Retreat offers an experiential training in awareness and insight.

The practice is grounded in the Four Foundations of Mindfulness: awareness of the body, feelings, mind, and mind objects. Through sustained meditation and careful observation, practitioners learn to observe their experience with increasing clarity and discernment.

The purpose of the practice is not simply to develop concentration or relaxation, but to see through the patterns of delusion and develop a deeper understanding of the nature of experience.

Through this process, mindfulness becomes more than a meditation technique. It becomes a way of investigating the mind and developing the insight necessary for genuine transformation.

Pilgrimage Tour Retreats combine meditation, Dhamma practice, and pilgrimage at places of profound significance in the Buddhist tradition.

The retreats include visits to important Buddhist sites in India and Sri Lanka, including temples and places associated with significant events in the Buddha’s life and the history of the Dhamma—where the Buddha attained enlightenment, delivered his first sermon and set the Wheel of Dhamma in motion, taught and resided, and where he passed away.

Alongside the pilgrimage, the programme includes meditation retreats, guided tours, and optional trekking, allowing participants to experience these sacred places through both practice and exploration.

Pilgrimage Tour Retreats are open to yogis, families, and friends, offering an opportunity to undertake the journey together while deepening their connection with the Buddha Dhamma.

A Nirodha Retreat is an immersive experience designed to support the whole person—body, mind, and inner development.

Retreats range from five to twenty-one days and are structured to meet the needs and level of each participant. The training brings together meditation practice and Dhamma teachings with supportive practices that encourage healthy living, including wholesome balanced daily routine.

What distinguishes a Nirodha Retreat is the integration of meditation, Dhamma, and everyday wellbeing within a dedicated retreat environment. The aim is not simply to provide a temporary retreat from ordinary life, but to create the conditions in which practitioners can develop a more sustained and integrated approach to practice.

Those who return for further retreats often describe positive changes in focus, concentration, and their awareness and connection with both body and mind.

Beginner

Beginning the Practice

The Beginner Retreat offers an experiential introduction to meditation and establishes the foundation for a sustained practice.

This is a 5–7 day residential silent retreat in which yogis are introduced to fundamental meditation practices through periods of sitting and walking meditation, supported by appropriate Dhamma teachings.

Each yogi receives personalised guidance and meditation instructions according to their practice and development. The emphasis is not simply on learning meditation techniques, but on establishing the foundations necessary for practice to develop and deepen over time.

Although primarily intended for those beginning meditation, the retreat is also open to beginner, intermediate, and advanced practitioners.

Intermediate

Deepening the Practice

The Intermediate Retreat is intended for yogis who have established the foundations of meditation and are ready to deepen their practice.

The training moves beyond the basic techniques and focuses on developing the qualities necessary to sustain meditation as a continuing practice. Sitting and walking meditation, Dhamma teachings, and individual guidance are brought together to support a deeper level of practice and understanding.

Intermediate Retreats form the core of the retreat programme and are offered most frequently. They are open to yogis who have completed the foundational retreat training.

Advanced

Deepening the Training

Advanced Retreats are undertaken by yogis who have developed a strong foundation in meditation and are ready for a more intensive period of practice.

These retreats are offered less frequently and, in some cases, participation is determined by the teacher according to the practitioner's readiness.

The training involves extended periods of meditation and a greater degree of discipline, continuity, and sustained effort. The retreat can therefore be demanding, both physically and mentally, while providing an opportunity for a significant deepening of practice.

The most sought-after Advanced Retreat is the annual three-week retreat, usually held in early January in Southeast Asia.
