Personal Meditation Guidance

Individual guidance for the gradual cultivation of the mind

Meditation is a gradual training of the mind. While the principles of practice may be introduced through classes and retreats, the actual cultivation of the mind unfolds uniquely in each individual. As practice deepens, experiences become increasingly subtle, obstacles differ from person to person, and progress can no longer be accurately assessed through general instruction alone.

For this reason, Personal Meditation Guidance forms one of the principal supports for the development of meditation practice. Through regular one-to-one consultations with the Teacher, practitioners receive guidance appropriate to their present stage of development. These consultations help clarify experience, identify obstacles, refine practice, and provide careful direction for steady and balanced progress.

Rather than functioning as a separate programme, Personal Meditation Guidance is woven into the broader training. Together with daily meditation, weekly classes, retreats, Dhamma study, and personal reflection, it supports the gradual internalisation of the Buddha Dhamma through direct experience rather than through intellectual understanding alone.

Eligibility

Personal Meditation Guidance is not intended as an isolated consultation, but as one element of a sustained and carefully guided training in meditation. Because each consultation requires careful preparation and dedicated time, it is generally reserved for practitioners who have trained consistently over an extended period, practise exclusively within this training programme, and maintain a regular meditation practice supported by both Personal Meditation Guidance and Logbook Entries.

From time to time, beginners who demonstrate exceptional sincerity, commitment, and readiness may also be invited to receive this form of guidance.

Personal Meditation Guidance forms part of a long-term training relationship between the Teacher and the practitioner. It is therefore intended for those undertaking this training and is generally not available to practitioners outside it.
