New Hope

Lighting of the traditional oil lamp signifies the Sinhala & Hindu New year which is widely celebrated in Sri Lanka. This creates a new hope and a new beginning - with new items for the households, new clothes and resolutions for a new beginning in people’s lives.

Devotees visit temples to receive blessings on this auspicious day.

At a simple ceremony held at the Nirodha Colombo City Centre, Pelawatte, Kapila Gunawardena - Vice President of the Samādhikusalá Foundation lights the oil lamp with yogis joining in the celebration and 

to receive blessings of Venerable Samādhikusalá Thero for the New year.
